Marinas & Anchorages Reviews Pt. 2 - The Catalina Series: Avalon, Two Harbors & Little Geiger: Spring 2026
Here are a few simpler reviews. -Mainly because the moorings don’t come along with all the amenities that marinas do. But they are still nice. You definitely feel like you’re in a slower paced life when you’re not directly attached to land.
Avalon Bay Moorings
Amenities:
Bathrooms/Showers - There are public bathrooms & showers but we didn’t use them. They are open to the whole public.
Laundry - N/A
Other - There is a shoreboat. It looks like it’s $7.00 per passenger. I don’t know if that is just one way or not though.
Moorings: The moorings are a little different here. And I always forget how they work each time. But I think we’ve got it down. -There is a loop that fits on your bow cleat & then a loop that fits on a stern cleat. Along with this, they do have dinghy docks but they get super crowded. You just have to deal with it. -Unless you want to take the shoreboat.
Staff: You pretty much deal with the harbor patrol. You can’t get a reservation. So what you do, when you get to the harbor is find the harbor patrol & they will handle & payment & assign you a mooring ball.
Pricing:
I just copied this from the website:
Location: Everything is pretty close - once you get to shore.
Other things to note: There is a roped off snorkeling area in front of the Casino. Lots of fishies to see.
Two Harbors Moorings
Amenities:
Bathrooms/Showers - There are some there. I think they are open to cruisers as well as campers. But again, we used our own on the boat.
Laundry - ?
Moorings: The moorings are the same as in Avalon. If you can anchor in deeper water, like 40 feet, you probably could anchor instead. I’m guessing that it might be on the rolly side though.
Staff: We didn’t deal with any staff.
Pricing: It was $75 per night for a 38/40’ boat. You make the reservation online. Here is the link: https://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/stay/mooring
Location: There is a dinghy dock. Once you get to shore, everything is pretty much right there: restaurant, bathrooms, showers, market - which is very expensive. -Avoid it if you can.
Other things to note: Snorkeling is pretty good there around the edges.
Little Geiger Mooring - yes as a singular mooring ball.
Amenities:
Bathrooms/Showers - N/A
Laundry - N/A
Moorings: One mooring ball. The mooring is the same as in Avalon.
Staff: Just call to pay for the mooring ball. They are very nice on the phone. 310.510.4254
Pricing: First, you need to see if anyone is moored there. If not, then hook your boat up to the mooring ball & then call for the reservation. It is a private mooring but if the owners aren’t there, you can pay for the mooring ball. It’s $95 per night. -Which I think is totally worth it for a few nights. It’s your own little paradise.
Location: There is a tiny beach. I think you can access the main hiking trail to the Isthmus from there but don’t quote me on that. The snorkeling is beautiful! The view & setting is beautiful!
