Are We Having Fun Yet?!
Well, I don’t know if “fun” would be the adjective we’d use for our trip so far. It started out okay. Then went downhill pretty quickly.

Bon Voyage!
That’s what we’re hoping to say to Santa Cruz Harbor tomorrow morning at 8 AM! (Writing this on Monday, September 26th.) The time has finally come for our trip down to the Channel Islands! Yes! There was a ton or work to be done on MerSea in this last week!

It’s All About Commitment
Owning a sailboat takes commitment. It’s like adopting a pet, child or getting married. If you’re not willing to put the work in then you are going to very much regret going down that road. -Or at least complain much more than those who love their boats & love sailing.

Mumbo, Jumbo, gumbo
Short & sweet, mmm… maybe not sweet. Fun! I’d say fun would be the better word.

Cha Ching!
The thing is, is that it’s easy to spend money on our boat. It’s kind of like a fourth family member.

It’s Getting Real!
We’re about a month away from our trip to the Channel Islands! I’m excited & a little anxious.

Who's Schedule are You On?
This past week I was reminded of another of Aesop's Fables, The Tortoise & The Hare. And after thinking about it for a while my take-away from it has changed completely from what it was trying to convey.

The Storm Inside
OMG! No, I never stress out or worry or go into a catatonic, overwhelmed pose. I am laid back, fun & carefree! "Ha!" -says the universe! You have to get everything ready for the Channel Islands trip next month! What does that even mean?!

Check! Check! Check!
That's the sound of us checking a bunch of tasks off our to-do list for MerSea!

What the Fog?!
If fireworks happen in the fog & you can't see them, are they really fireworks?

Anchoring Out in Our Backyard
This weekend we decided to anchor, basically down the street from our house, but in the ocean.

The Ant & The Grasshopper
One bright day in late autumn a family of Ants were bustling about in the warm sunshine, drying out the grain they had stored up during the summer, when a starving Grasshopper, his fiddle under his arm, came up and humbly begged for a bite to eat.

LeT’s Try This Again
I'm just going to give a spoiler alert at the beginning of the blog: Our trip to Monterey was NOT a disaster!

You Have to Wake Me Up Pretty Early in the Morning......
.....to get us out into the bay early enough to experience being on our boat under way in the dark. 3 AM to be truthful.

3 Years!!!
Three years ago today I had the revelation of what I wanted to do in my life: Sail Around The World! And this is some of what I've learned in that time.

75% Projects/25% Sailing
Unfortunately that's what it feels like right now owning our sailboat, MerSea. However she's 38 years old.
