Going With The Flow: September 9th, 2026

The boat projects that we had planned to do before we left Santa Cruz are on hold for now. There is too much to do with our land life work & getting things settled before leaving Santa Cruz. Yes, that means we just have to go with the flow. Although that also means that we have to with the flow of the weather. -Which, in terms of weather predictions, is aligned with when we originally wanted to leave. So we might have to scramble extra hard to finish up loose ends or just let them be loose until we get back.

The waves have been consistently larger than usual at this time of year. So we need to make sure we leave when they are “predicted” to be under 6’ feet. So we can be somewhat comfortable. -Thinking mainly about going along the Big Sur Coast.

‍ ‍Anyway, this is the lifestyle we chose & we just need to go with the flow no matter how up & down or rocky it gets. Flexibility, both in attitude & schedule, is a necessity for the sailing life.

Our friends, Dianthe & Mike came over for dinner one night!

We have been lucky that our social calendar has been full lately. So good to see as many possible friends as we can. However, there are a bunch of people we will just have to make plans with when we get back. The balance between work & fun has been tricky.

Our slip for the last 2 months.

We did leave the slip that we were so lucky to have gotten for the last few months! Thanks to Laurie & Matt for reaching out so that we could sublease their slip while they were getting boat work done! Now we are at an end-tie for the last few weeks we are here in Santa Cruz.

Getting ready to leave B Dock.

Matt cleaned the under-belly of MerSea. She was dirty & desperately needed new zincs. So I am very thankful that he did the tiring work to get her back to ship-shape again.

I am doing less important but still necessary work of going through cubbies & cupboards to organize better & get rid of stuff that I don’t think that we’ll need. It’s definitely a long & on-going process.

Matt cleans the boat & changes out the zincs.

I did make a shortish video for this week. -Kind of explaining where we’re at. Not the most exciting but hopefully somewhat informative to let everyone know what is going on.

Itty Bitty video this week.

Just a picture of cuteness.

Thanks for reading & watching! Appreciate everyone hanging in there with our slow season. See you next week!
