Hellos & Goodbyes: February 20th - 26th, 2025
We say hi & good bye to a few people in this blog/episode. Hopefully, but not sure, we'll see them all again later. I like to remain optimistic though. At least we’re pretty sure we’ll see Matt Meyers again. But it always seems like a long time in between getting together.
And yes, we say adios to Puerto Escondido for the last time this season. And possibly for the last time of our cruising life. At this point though, who knows? We know how easily plans can change.
We tidied up MerSea a little for Matt Meyers. So I had to get evidence!
The first day Matt Meyers was here, we took him to Honeymoon Cove. Thankfully we got to sail for a mile or 2 before anchoring. 😀
Then we all went snorkeling. It was a little murkier than the last few times we had been there. But still pretty cool. Until…
Matt told me that this one near some rocks was super clear. So I went there. But before I could see anything good, I noticed some jellyfish, well, quite a few jellyfish around me. So I turned around to get the hell out of that area, only to swim into a bunch of jellyfish.
Then I got stung! I got stung above my upper lip & around my mouth & on my cheek! I couldn’t get back to the boat fast enough! It felt like my face was on fire!
The sting relief serum didn’t help a ton. I think the Tylenol helped a little more. I got a dark red blister right above my lip. -Where I think 1 particular jellyfish stung me more than once. These jellyfish were long & stringy. -Kind of like pipe cleaners but larger. I hadn’t seen them before.
Anyway, I survived. Most of the stings were gone by the next morning except the one above my lip. That lasted for almost a week!
Matt & Matt sure had a great experience though! And my Matt caught a flounder! -Which we dined on later that night.
Sailing over to Honeymoon Cove
The following day Matt & Matt went hiking in Mezquite Canyon while Zephyr & I hung out on the boat. I wasn’t feeling the greatest & I used the time to get caught up on some stuff. I think the guys had a ton of fun though!
Matt & Matt hike Mezquite Canyon
For Matt Meyers last night in the area, we went first to his hotel, Posada de Las Flores hotel. Such a beautiful hotel! If we were in Loreto, I’m pretty sure this is where we would stay!
After that, we went out to dinner & then walked around the town & explored. Carnival was starting to happen, a few weeks early. So we checked out the Loreto vesion of Carnival & got there in time to see part of a fun dance show!
And just like that, Matt Meyers, disappeared into the night as quickly as he came. Way too short of a trip! But thanks for coming down. It was so great to see you!
We were actually going to leave on a Tuesday but decided to stay one more day so we could enjoy a birthday celebration, for our friend Jeff. His wife Fran, was going to make it a surprise but it’s kind of hard to do when you’re in an open air restaurant that’s the only one in the marina. 😁
Such a fun evening! We love Fran & Jeff & hoping we get to see them in the next cruising season.
Last night in Puerto Escondido with Fran & Jeff for Jeff’s birthday dinner!
We took off on a Wednesday morning. And Matt got a fish just as we exited the marina! There were many whales along the way. I didn’t get footage. I don’t have a camera yet that can capture that magic. But it’s always so cool to see. And it’s nice to just be in the moment without a camera. Although, I do have to say that it’s so fun to go back & look at everything that we’ve experienced. Some things I seem to forget about. So when I see those memories in video or photos it really takes me back to those special times.
Leaving Puerto Escondido & sailing north to Isla Coronado
Let me lick the fins Daddy!
How to describe this video?… I guess I would say for you to watch it & let me know how you would describe it.
So goodbye to friends & Puerto Escondido & all the special places we got to enjoy & explore while we were there. You were very good to us!
Matt & Zephyr: The I love fish sessions
Thanks for looking, reading & watching! Next week we start moving on to the north once again. -This time we get to stop at a few new anchorages!
