MerSea B!
She’s here! Finally with us! Our larger sailboat! MerSea B. -Or MerSea Beaucoup! -2001 Catalina 380, (that means 38’). We moved onto her on Friday & have been slowly getting to know her & cleaning her up.
I think we first saw this boat a few months ago but didn’t really think it would still be here in San Diego by the time we were back in SoCal. But she was & we got to see her in person on the 24th of September. She looked fairly decent but we knew there was going to be work to do on her to make her a cruising boat.
So we took about 24 hrs to discuss & then made an offer. The owner made a counter offer & then we made another counter offer & signed a deal to get a survey, haul-out, sea trial & engine survey done.
That happened about 3 weeks later! 😱 I am not a patient person & I struggled with this. But made it through. 😂 We got it all checked out; on a rainy & super windy day, I might add. And then waited again for the surveys to come back to us.
Then we decided to take the price down a little bit to accomodate for things we were unaware of at the time of our 1st offer. Then we waited… Then the owner accepted that offer. Then a contract was written up & the next day we signed that. And then the day after that we paid for the boat. And then we waited for the payment to go through… And then we signed all of the legal stuff. And then it all got processed & we took possession of MerSea B on October 31st! -Yes, Halloween!
As much as we would have loved to celebrate & go out that night, we were pretty exhausted from the whole process.
Our marina for the next few months.
Here’s a little video of us talking about the process of buying the boat & other things. A tour will come in the weeks to follow!
So, needless to say, we will be selling our 30’ Catalina. -No, we won’t be collecting different sizes of Catalinas throughout time. If you, or anyone you know, are interested, please reach out to us! -Kendall@svMerSea.com or just reply in the comments below.
Zephyr at his new home dock!
Thanks for reading & watching! We are so glad if you stuck around for the last month or so -as we know the videos have been short & not showing much progression in our lives. That will change & I will have to get in the hustle again of blogs & videos.
