We left Santa Barbara around 6:30 am so that we could make good time up to Morro Bay. Although, it would put us there at night, I wanted to get past point conception in the least amount of wind & waves that were predicted for that day. We did get a little bit of swell but it wasn’t horrible.

So, yes, we arrived around 11:30 pm in Morro Bay. I wouldn’t advise any one else to do this, who hasn’t been to Morro Bay multiple times as we had. Not easy. A bit hard to see. -Especially with the big dark rock that keeps getting closer & closer to you as you enter the harbor. 😂

The buoys though are pretty navigate-able. We were bummed to find all of the space at the dock taken. So we got a mooring ball. -Which I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with us as we got it hooked up on the 2nd try in the dark!

So once we were done with that, we went into the cabin & celebrated for getting around the 1st major hurdle. -Point Conception! -It was our 4th time doing so!

And then we went to sleep.

We did end up getting a spot on the dock towards the end of the 1st day we were there. Unfortunately is was around 4 pm when the wind was going to be around 20kts. I’m pretty sure I let Matt dock the boat. 😂

It just makes everything so nice as to not have to dinghy to get on land. The Santa Cruz Yacht Club is the best! Laundry, showers, close to a lot of stuff in town, & run by the nicest people.

We spent most of the time doing work on the boat, stocking up on healthy groceries. Walking around & trying to relax. But the definite highlight was seeing this mama otter with her baby right by our dock. So precious!

Otters! Because is there really such a thing as too many photos of mama otters with their babies right beside your dock?
